The Lord Ashcroft Foundation was founded in September 2000 in Belize by Lord Ashcroft, KCMG.

Lord Ashcroft grew up in Belize after his father had been posted there by the Foreign Office.  In 1982, he revisited the country and fell in love with its people and culture for a second time.

A pioneering and successful businessman and entrepreneur himself, Lord Ashcroft wished to share his success by making stepping stones more readily available for charitable projects in the Caribbean and Central America (as he has already done in the United Kingdom) which may not otherwise have the opportunity to develop.

In particular projects relating to the environment, educational and scholarship programs, sports, medical and children’s charitable projects, some of which include The National Center for Art Education in Belize, The Ashcroft (sports) Stadium in Belize, The Kolbe Foundation (Belize prison project), the Belize Library project and The Ashcroft School scholarship project in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
